After so many contacts, social networks and other means of communication, finally, and perhaps by a stroke of fate, he ran into the group From Facebook Where are you?. “I looked everywhere”he remarked.

Julio turned to the past and talked about the difficult moment when he stopped seeing her as a result of a decision that had nothing to do with him. “We were very young. My mom brought me from Paraguay to Argentina and at that time she had two little brothers, Naza and Flor. Because I didn’t have relatives here, my mom left my sister with strangers.”

It all happened in 2002 when López was going through a difficult time with his health and had traveled to Argentina to be treated: “I I was admitted to the Gandulfo Hospital. I had an appendicitis operation, I was 14 years old. At that time, my mother did not want to leave me alone in the place and I do not know why. made the decision to leave my sister with a family that lived in La Plata.”

That was the last time they had contact. “All that happened and I, being a minor, returned to Paraguay. I lived there for a while and after many years I returned without knowing anything about her. My mom got together with another couple and didn’t look for her anymore.”

Twenty years have passed since then. Thanks to the advancement of technology and networks, Julio was able to contact Florencia: “It didn’t take long for them to answer me in the group and having some information we immediately found the lady who raised my sister. I called her and she also knew of my existence, so it was quicker to recognize me.”

The adoptive mother of the young woman gave her the contact and then they communicated by phone: “I couldn’t talk to Flor because of the emotion and the crying, so I just decided to write her a message. She did not want to put pressure on her because everything was very strong”.

After a couple of days, the long-awaited reunion took place: “We arranged to meet and Saturday February 5 was the big day. We met at my house with family and other friends.”

Julio could not contain his emotion: “I had a couple of tears when I saw it. She is a beautiful woman. Many years passed to see her again. I am relieved to know that it was well taken care of and that I already know where all my brothers are”.

That will happen over time, ”the man commented on whether he had a talk about what he went through with her and what emotions he felt in relation to it.

In the case of Florence, still He has no words to explain what all this mobilization generated for him: “There are a lot of mixed feelings. I do not know where to start. It is something that is difficult and at the same time very exciting”.

Currently, four are in Argentina and another 3 in Paraguay. Julio’s wish is to be able to meet with everyone.

“Where are you?”, an initiative from the heart

His case is among the 14,000 people who have already met their relatives since the creation of the Facebook group. According to the administrator, Sergio Pallaronithe decision to arm it was by own motive and with the help of other acquaintances. “We founded it in 2015 with Graciela Quintana and Guillermo Quintasse. At that time we generated the first encounter, of the 15 and 20 that there are daily nowadays”.

Translating the group’s achievements into numbers, he indicated that there are about 230 cases per month -including friends and family- and a total of 2000 per year.

Its objective is to bring together more and more people and create a positive space where they can close a stage and find a missing piece in their lives.. “On our part, when a reunion is achieved, it is very exciting as long as it is well accepted by the other party”Pallaroni reflects.

These people who tirelessly search for their relatives or relatives, represent perseverance and resistance: they are an example of struggle and effort. In this sense, it is possible to return to the words that Gustavo Cerati once sang: “It takes time to arrive and in the end, in the end, there is a reward”.

Like Julio, there are endless individuals who live years of their lives immersed in uncertainty and doubt and yearn to reach the end of the search for their loved ones. This exciting story opens the door to hope and invites us to think that, despite the distances, reunions are possible.

It is moving that, from forgiveness, families come together again, despite the pain caused by past situations. The main thing is to give light to those dark parts and rewrite a new chapter in their lives.
