Canada withdraws part of its military in Ukraine

Canada He decided “temporarily relocate” in another part of Europe a part of its military personnel stationed in UkraineGiven the situation in the region, the Canadian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday.

In a statement he specified that this transfer “does not mean the end of the mission” from military Canadians, but allows Ottawa “reorient” their efforts while ensuring the safety of their troops.

Ottawa did not specify the number of military relocated or their new destination.

about 200 military Canadians have been deployed since 2015 in Ukraine in a UN mission that seeks to contribute to the training of the Ukrainian forces.

Canada announced on Saturday the temporary closure of its embassy in Kiev and the transfer of its operations to a temporary office in Lviv (west), due to the “deterioration of the situation caused by the deployment of Russian troops to the border”.
