United Statess announced today the “temporary” transfer of its embassy operations in Ukraine from the capital, Kiev, to the largest city in the west of the country, Lviv, by insisting that Russia could attack the country “this week”.

On Friday, he already urged his citizens to leave Ukraine in the next 24 to 48 hours in the face of the “imminent” risk of a possible Russian invasion, which White House trial could begin with “aerial bombardments and missile attacks.”

“An invasion could start at any moment (…). could start this week”, said the deputy spokeswoman for the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, at a press conference today.

That statement contrasts with what was made shortly before by Pentagon spokesman John Kirby, who acknowledged that he did not believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin had yet made a “definitive” decision on whether to invade Ukraine.

Faced with the measures taken by Washington, Moscow has mentioned the possibility of an agreement with the United States and NATO that could resolve the escalation of tension around Ukraine.

However, the US government remains skeptical and maintains that it has not seen “any tangible sign” of de-escalation by Moscow.
