Brazil registers 1,128 deaths from coronavirus in one day

A total of 1,128 people were added in the last 24 hours to the death toll from coronavirus in Brazila country that maintains second place in the number of deaths due to the pandemic.

According to the National Council of Health Secretaries of the different states, with the death toll registered today, the number of people who have died from this virus in the country, which arrived in Brazil almost two years ago, rises to 641,902.

In addition, according to the same information, in the last 24 hours, 131,049 new positive cases were recorded, reaching a total of 27.9 million.

Brazil is the second country in number of deaths from covid-19, after the United States (918,560 deaths), and the third in registered positives after the United States (77.4 million) and India (42.8 million), according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The highest daily number of deaths from the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil was recorded on April 8, 2021, 4,249 deaths, but the record number of cases is more recent, on February 3, when 298,408 positives were recorded.

The omicron variant is predominant in Brazil, a country that continues with the vaccination process and has already fully immunized 72% of its population and with the booster dose received by 27% of the 213 million inhabitants.
