“Take my daughter”: The cry of an Argentine journalist when recounting the harsh request of a Ukrainian colleague

The military conflict between Russia and Ukraine includes hundreds of stories of despair and anguish. On this occasion, the reporter Sol Macaluso revealed from the city of Lviv a special request made by a teammate.

The days of work on the site made both the reporter and her teammates form a close bond. In this framework, Sol broke down in tears when he revealed that his fixers Max, who is in charge of guiding them in the Ukraine, asked him to take his daughter.

“It is very hard that they have to stay, leave their family and come and tell you ‘please, take my daughter and take care of her, that she lacks nothing”, he commented. With tears in his eyes and a broken voice, Macaluso expressed: “There are no words”.

On the other hand, Sol confessed that from the beginning promised to get the girl out of Ukraine and accompany her in the hard process that entails moving away from her parents. “It’s my family now, is my sister (…) My family is getting bigger and bigger with each one of them. They are amazing people so whatever it takes, ”she said, wiping tears from her face.

Although she commented that the decision was not easy, she reiterated the reasons that led her to take this action. “I don’t know, there are no words for what one feels. On the one hand, of course, the desire to go, to be with my family, to see them and make them calmer. On the other hand, love and commitment to the profession. I was at a crossroads all day, at first it seemed that I was leaving but then I ended up deciding this.

Finally, Macaluso revealed what will happen to Max’s girl, his fixer. “It is taken by a small great giant of our team that returns to Spain. It will be very well taken care of. As I have mentioned, we are all one big family in this work team. Hopefully he can be reunited with his family soon, either here in his country or in any place that is safe for all of them, “she closed.
