Boris Johnson accuses Russia of “war crime” in Ukraine and asks for a UN vote

British Prime Minister, Boris Johnsonqualified the Russian president on Wednesday, Vladimir Putinof war criminal and urged the member countries of the UN to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Johnson made these statements in the House of Commons in London, where the Ukrainian ambassador was present, to whom the deputies gave a standing ovation.

“What we have already seen from the regime of Vladimir Putinin the use of the ammunition that they have already been dropping on innocent civilians, in my opinion already fully qualifies as a war crime,” the prime minister said.

The British government has been warning for days that Putin and his commanders could be prosecuted by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, which has already opened an investigation into the invasion of Ukraine.

Before a United Nations General Assembly vote scheduled for the afternoon in New York, Johnson urged its members to call for a withdrawal of Russian troops.

“The UN General Assembly will vote later today and we ask all nations to join us in condemning Russia and demand that Putin return his tanks home,” he said. “If, instead, Putin redoubles his efforts, we will continue to increase economic pressure,” he added.
