Russia bombs residential building and Antonov factory in kyiv; there are at least two dead

Two people were killed on Monday in Russian airstrikes in kyiv that also targeted an Antonov aircraft factory, the capital’s city hall said. Ukraine.

The Ukrainian authorities had already reported that another person had died in a bombing against a residential building in Kyiv.

“The occupants bombed a residential building and the Antonov factory”, the town hall announced in the morning.

Factory Antonov is located in the district of Svyatochynwest of the capital.

The city council did not specify if the factory had been hit.

On February 27, the Russian army destroyed the only example of the An-225 “Mriya” plane, the largest in the world manufactured by Antonov, during the fighting at the Gostomel airfield near kyiv, the scene of intense fighting.

The plane, unique in the world, which was 84 meters long and could carry up to 250 tons of cargo at speeds of up to 850 km/h, was called “Mriya” (“Dream” in Ukrainian).

Built in the framework of Soviet aeronautical programs, the An-225 made its first flight in 1988. After several years of inactivity due to lack of resources, it made a test flight in 2001 in Gostomel, about 20 km northwest of kyiv and from then it was operated by the Ukrainian airline Antonov Airlines.
