Álvaro Uribe to Gustavo Petro: “Win the elections, don’t try to steal them”

After the elections to the Congress of Colombia, held on March 13, 2022, some doubts have arisen regarding the counting of votes. In fact, the Historical Pact denounced that no votes were reported in his favor at various polling stations throughout the country and other types of irregularities.

Given the remarks, the national registrar, Alexander Vega, acknowledged that there were irregularities in the E-14 formats that could have hindered the scrutiny and that, therefore, I request the National Electoral Council counting vote by vote.

“These irregularities are being corrected by the scrutinizing commissions and will be brought to the attention of the Prosecutor’s Office so that these actions are investigated and sanctioned as soon as possible.Vega explained.

Faced with the statements of the registrar, the candidate for the presidency Gustavo Petro He assured that he will not participate in more debates until electoral transparency is guaranteed, since, according to him, the recount of physical votes can increase the risk of fraud.

Before the declarations of the leader of the Historical Pact, Alvaro Uribe Velez criticized Petro’s position and insinuated that he wants to “steal the elections” by preventing the recounting of the votes.

“Dr. Petro, win the elections, do not try to steal them or impose yourself by plotting accusations of fraud against those of us who ask for clear accounts”, the president wrote on his Twitter account.

According to the leader of the Democratic Center, it cannot be expected that new votes appear in favor of the Historical Pact and the other benches do not question it.

”What does Mr. Petro want? That 500,000 votes appear, an overwhelming majority in his favor, and we ask nothing… Why are you afraid of a transparent recount?Uribe added.
