According to the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Disaster Risk Reduction, Guterres fears that rising food and energy prices could lead to a “food crisis” on “many countries”.
“Everyone is going to feel the impact of this through inflation,” Mizutori warned.
Mizutori expressed his fear that the conflict will reduce investment and international cooperation, especially in the poorest countries.
Due to the invasion ordered by the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, Moscow has been punished by the West with multiple sanctions to punish its economy.
The measures affect grain, oil and gas exports, of which Russia is one of the main producers in the world.
Furthermore, from the beginning of the invasionOn February 24, more than 10 million Ukrainians (a quarter of the population) have had to leave their homes and 3.7 million have left the country.
Mizutori also declared that the different United Nations agencies evaluate the aid they will grant to Ukraine after the conflict.
“We are looking at how we can help Ukraine” when the conflict “it is finished” so that “The country can recover better.”
“We know that the infrastructure of the country is quite destroyed and the people displaced”Mizutori said.
