Thailand lowers entry requirements amid wave of coronavirus infections

This new border policy, aimed at reactivating the tourism sector, coincides with the largest wave of infections since the start of the pandemic, although the number of deaths has not increased to the same extent.

The health authorities reported this Friday of 28,379 new confirmed cases -and another 22,331 with ATK tests- and 92 deaths with the covid-19with what Thailand accumulates 3.63 million infections, including more than 25,200 deaths, since the start of the pandemic.

The vaccination campaign, with almost 70% of the entire population following the complete schedule, is now focused on increasing the percentage of those vaccinated with booster doses, which to date reaches a third of the total population.

The Government of Thailand intends to declare the covid-19 as an endemic disease, although it is slowly progressing in the reduction of measures and still maintains the obligation to wear a mask indoors and outdoors, it restricts the hours of sale of alcohol and the closure of nightlife, among other measures.
