US judge denies Ghislaine Maxwell’s request for a new trial

“The court determines that the jury 50 was not prejudiced against the defendant and could be a fair and impartial jury”according to the court document.

The American financier, with powerful economic and political networks in the United States and abroad, was accused of raping girls but committed suicide in prison in August 2019, before his trial.

Maxwell, his partner and accomplice of 30 years, a 60-year-old woman of British, French and American nationality, faces decades in prison. Her sentencing is expected on June 28.
