Poland accuses France and Germany of being too close to Russia

The deputy prime minister and strong man of PolandJaroslaw Kaczynski accused France and Germany of having been too close to Russia before the invasion of Ukraine, in an interview published Sunday by the German newspaper Die Welt.

Germany, like Francehas a strong bias in favor of Moscow”, said Kaczynski, leader of the ruling nationalist-populist Law and Justice (PiS) party.

The leader aimed more harshly at the German executive.

“For years, the German government did not want to see what Russia was doing under the leadership of [Vladimir] Putin and today we see the result”he claimed.

Poland is not satisfied with the role of Germany in Europe”, he continued.

According to Kaczynski, Berlin tries “rebuild what the former chancellor of the Bismarck Empire did”, namely, “a German domination, but next to Russia”.

He also criticized Germany for failing to deliver enough weapons to Ukraine and opposing an embargo on Russian oil imports.

“It is important to know that Russia obtains between four and five times more income from the sale of oil than from gas”he underlined.

“We cannot continue to support a great power like Russia by giving it billions”, he continued.

Before the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Germany imported 55% of its natural gas, half of its coal and about 35% of its oil from Russia.
