Ukraine and Russia call for opposing meetings on Bucha in Security Council

Ukraine and Russia They asked this Sunday that the UN Security Council address the massacre of civilians discovered after the withdrawal of Russian troops in the Ukrainian city of Bucha, raising two meetings from opposite angles for this Monday and Tuesday.

The Ukrainian ambassador to the UNSergiy Kyslytsya, indicated on Twitter that he has requested a meeting on Tuesday to discuss “Russian aggression against Ukraineand considered that “Any script read by (his Russian counterpart, Vasili) Nebenzia or his henchmen will be written in the blood of those massacred in Bucha”.

“What he (Nebenzia) really needs is to reread the Nuremberg files on Nazi diplomats and resign,” Kyslytsya added, citing a publication by the Foreign Minister of UkraineDmytro Kuleba, who denounced what happened in Bucha like a “deliberate slaughter” of the Ukrainian people by Moscow.

However, the deputy representative of Russia before the UNDmitry Polyanskiy, wrote hours later in a brief message on that social network that he had asked the highest decision-making body to meet, but tomorrow, Monday, “In light of the heinous provocations of the Ukrainian radicals in Bucha”.

Kyslytsya responded to Polyanskiy minutes later: “An uneasy conscience betrays itself or if you can’t stop the already announced meeting on April 5, twist it by saying it’s yours… what else could one of (Vladimiri) Putin’s ‘minions’ expect?”, the Russian president.

The Secretary General, António Guterres, today joined the shock of the international community in reaction to the images of civilians killed in Buchanear kyiv, and claimed a “independent investigation” leading to a “effective accountability”although he did not want to use qualifiers.

Several European leaders today condemned the alleged summary executions of civilians, which the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has considered that they constitute genocide, and they have called for investigations into possible war crimes by Russia.

Moscow, for its part, denied the accusations and stated that during the weeks in which the Kiev suburb had been under Russian control “Not a single local resident suffered violent actions.”
