Tragedy in Argentina: 2-year-old girl falls into a stream, her brother jumps to rescue her, but both drown

The tragedy knocked on the door of an Argentine family in the province of Misiones. Two brothers, ages 2 and 6, drowned after being swept away by the strong waters of a stream where they were playing.

Last Monday, the 2-year-old girl played on the banks of the Tararira stream, in the town of El Soberbio, while her brother watched her. In a moment of carelessness, the girl accidentally fell into the flow and was carried downhill by the river, reports TN.

Scared because his sister was asking for help, little Juan Leonel, 6 years old, jumped into the stream to rescue her, but the torrential river seized him and took him to the depths.

The stream had a strong flow due to the intense rains of the last few hours in the area. Both were swept away by the current around 05:00 pm and quickly disappeared from the surface.

Unfortunately no one arrived in time to rescue them, so they drowned.

Firefighters and authorities began a search after learning of the children’s disappearance. The body of the 6-year-old boy was found at night 1.5 km from the place where he was last seen.

For her part, little Luciana Valentina was found dead on Tuesday more than 7 km from where she played with her brother.

The authorities opened an investigation folder to determine if the parents would be responsible for leaving the children without care.
