Strong earthquake of magnitude 5.4 shakes El Salvador

A strong 5.4-magnitude earthquake originating in the Pacific Ocean shook part of the territory of The Savior No casualties or material damage were reported, authorities reported.

The telluric movement was recorded at 4:53 p.m. local time (22:53 GMT) and its epicenter, at a depth of 23.46 km, was located on the Pacific Ocean coast of the department of Usulutan, about 72 km south of the beach El Espino, pointed out a report from the General Directorate of the Observatory of Threats and Natural Resources.

According to that instance, the earthquake was sensitive to the population in the central departments of San Salvador, where the capital of the same name is located, La Libertad, La Paz and San Vicente, as well as in the eastern departments of Usulutan, and Saint Michael.

In those departments, the Civil Protection authorities did not report victims or material damage due to the earthquake.
