One dead in Russian bombing of military factory in kyiv

A factory producing tanks on the outskirts of Kyiv was the target of a bombing Russian this Saturday, in which at least one person died, official sources reported.

In Moscow, the Russian Defense Ministry said there was a shelling of a military factory in kyiv, a day after authorities warned they would intensify their attacks on the Ukrainian capital.

“Long-range, high-precision air-to-ground weapons destroyed buildings of an arms production plant in kyiv,” the ministry said in a statement on the Telegram network.

As an AFP journalist was able to verify, a significant number of soldiers and police officers went to the scene and prevented access to the industrial complex, from which smoke was pouring out.

kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at least one person was killed in the attack and several people were injured.

“Our forces do everything possible to protect us, but the enemy is insidious and ruthless,” the mayor said.

Klitschko once again asked the inhabitants who left kyiv not to return yet and to remain in a “safe place”.

On Friday, a Russian attack targeted a factory in the kyiv region that made Neptune missiles, used on Thursday by the Ukrainian army to sink the “Moskva”, the flagship of the Russian fleet, according to kyiv sources.

Russian attacks on kyiv have been rare since late March, when Moscow withdrew its troops from the capital and announced it was concentrating its offensive on eastern Ukraine.
