They attack with grenade launchers the headquarters of State Security in Transnistria, a separatist region of Moldova

The headquarters of the Ministry of State Security of the breakaway Moldovan region of Transnistriamostly Russian-speaking, was attacked today by unknown assailants with a grenade launcher, according to local authorities.

“This Monday, around 5:00 p.m. local time, in the building of the Ministry of State Security of Transnistria there were several explosions. According to previous data, the shots were fired with grenade launchers,” the Ministry of the Interior reported on its Telegram account.

For its part, the local channel TSV Pridnestrovie published photos of the building with the smashed windows and police cars in front of the institution’s headquartersas well as from used grenade launcher tubes of RPG 22 and Shmel models.

In the attack, perpetrated in the center of the city, at least three projectiles were launchedwhich caused material damage both in the ministerial headquarters and in the adjoining buildings, with no reported victims.

The local media have posted photos online that also show the presence of firefighters and ambulances next to the building and photos of a group of soldiers with grenade launchers.

In another photo you can see the back of one of the thrown grenades.

“The adjacent territory has been cordoned off by the police. An operational group of investigations, sappers, paramedics and specialists from other emergency services works at the site, ”added the Ministry of the Interior.

Transnistria, a territory of barely half a million inhabitants, mostly Slavs, broke ties with Moldova after an armed conflict (1992-1993) in which it had Russian help.

Since the end of that conflict, which cost the lives of hundreds of people, moldova advocates the integration of the two territories divided by the Dniester River, which the separatists have always refused.

Under the Agreement for the Peaceful Solution of the Transnistrian conflict signed in July 1992, Russia it stationed 2,400 troops to guarantee peace in the area, but this contingent was reduced over the years.
