A woman was arrested in Ecuador after authorities discovered he tried to sell his two-year-old daughter for $400 through social media. In the publication of Facebookshe left the phone number for them to contact her.

The agents of the National Directorate of Specialized Police for Children and Adolescents (Dinapen) of Ecuador arrested the woman after coordinating a meeting through the number she left registered, the same one that was used by the police to catch her, says El Universe.

“In the images that came to us, she puts her phone number so that people interested in buying the girl can contact her.”, expressed surprised Ángel Tandazo, national director of Dinapen.

“After several proceedings, it was learned that the citizen would arrive at the land terminal to try to offer the minor and sell her”, he recounted.

In her first statements after being arrested, the woman, whose name has not been revealed, pointed out that the main motivation for committing this crime was not having the financial solvency to support the little girl.

He also pointed out that the minor’s father had abandoned her months ago.

The woman was made available to the Family Prosecutor’s Office and the court; while the girl was handed over to her grandmother until a sentence is issued against the detainee.

The grandmother stated that she was surprised and that she was unaware that her daughter would try to market her granddaughter as if she were any object.
