Putin tells Macron that the West must stop supplying weapons to Ukraine

The Russian President, Vladimir Putindeclared on Tuesday that Western countries had to stop supplying weapons to Ukrainein a conversation with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.

“The West could help end the atrocities by exerting appropriate influence over the kyiv authorities and also by stopping supplying weapons to Ukraine”, the president said, according to a statement released by the Kremlin.

Vladimir Putin he accused the Ukrainian forces of committing war crimes and the European Union of “ignoring” them.

The Russian president also pointed out that, despite “the incoherence and lack of preparation of kyiv for serious work, the Russian side remains open to dialogue” to find a way out of the conflict.

According to the Kremlin, Putin would have responded to the concerns expressed by France about world food security by stating that “the situation in this matter is complicated, mainly because of the sanctions of Western countries” against Russia.

Relations between France and Russia have been severely strained since the beginning of Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine on February 24, although Macron and Putin have met on several occasions, before and after the conflict began.
