Horror in Colombia: 3-month-old baby dies who would have been sexually abused by his 17-year-old stepfather

In the municipality of Galapa (Atlántico, Colombia) there is dismay over the death of a three-month-old girl who would have been the victim of sexual abuse by her 17-year-old stepfather.

According to versions of those close to the family, the baby was under the care of the adolescent in the house located in the Mundo Feliz urbanization, because his mother was working.

The solitude in the place of residence would have been taken advantage of by the presumed perpetrator, who accessed it carnally, causing considerable injuries.

Due to the foregoing, the minor had to be transferred by her relatives to a care center of the municipality, where “admitted without vital signs”according to Lieutenant Colonel Óscar Solarte, sectional commander of Protection of the Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla.

”We activated the attention route with the staff of Children and Adolescents and the Judicial Police. This is how the apprehension of an adolescent is made, who had this minor in care”, said the officer.

Likewise, it indicated that they collected the evidentiary material, which is being presented to the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, to avoid impunity for the baby’s death.

The Metropolitan Police Barranquilla recommended that the community take special care with children and adolescents, leave them with responsible people and thus avoid tragic situations, such as the one in this case.

The state in which the minor arrived at the hospital

For his part, the mayor of GalapaJosé Fernando Vargas, lamented the events recorded in the Mundo Feliz urbanization and asked the competent authorities investigate and enforce the law which requires a case like this.

“It is a case that deserves punishment and that cannot go unpunished. The alleged perpetrator is a minor, according to information from the authorities, but he must also be subject to the law, as it is a clear case of femicide of a baby girl barely 3 months old”, said the president.

On this fact, the secretary of government, Luis Oquendo, pointed out that an operation was installed with the National Police that allowed the capture of the alleged perpetrator in the local hospital facilities, where the minor had been taken by her maternal grandmother for presenting vomiting and fever.
