Biden announces another $150 million in military aid for Ukraine

The president of United States, Joe Bidenannounced this Friday that it authorized a new military aid package for Ukraine valued at $150 million.

A US official told Efe that the value of the package amounts to 150 million dollars and includes 25,000 ammunition for heavy artillery, radar, equipment to interfere with the communications of Russian troops and other US-made machinery.

Look: How compelling is Western intelligence to help Ukraine in the war?

“The United States continues its strong support for the brave people of Ukraine as they defend their country from ongoing Russian aggression.”, he stated Biden in a statement to announce the aid.

With this additional $150 million, the total money provided by the US in military aid to Ukraine so far this year is more than $4 billion.

Today’s announcement comes after last week Biden ask for an additional 33,000 million in aid from the US Congress, which is the body in charge of the budget.

In making that request, the president made it clear that he had barely any funds left to continue supporting Ukraine because the $13.6 billion Congress approved last month had nearly run out.

Biden He said this Friday that, with the new aid authorized, the funds are already almost completely exhausted.

“For Ukraine to succeed in this next phase of the war, its international partners, including the United States, must continue to demonstrate their unity and determination to keep the flow of arms and ammunition to Ukraine uninterrupted.”said the ruler.

“Congress – he added – should quickly provide the requested funds with the aim of strengthening Ukraine on the battlefield and at the negotiating table”.

Biden will participate on Sunday in a virtual meeting of the G7, organized by Germany and in which ways to continue helping Ukraine will be discussed, as well as the possibility of new sanctions.
