Police arrest the prisoner who escaped with a prison agent in the US

Police American announced Monday that he had arrested an “extremely dangerous” prisoner who escaped on April 29 thanks to the help of a prison officer, also arrested.

“Casey White is under arrest again,” Sheriff Rick Singleton told reporters.

His alleged accomplice, Officer Vicky White, was injured during the arrest. The authorities estimate that the two had a romantic relationship, which began in a prison in Alabama (southern United States), and has fascinated Americans.

The prisoner was driving a Ford truck in Indiana (northwest) accompanied by the correctional officer when the police began to chase them, the sheriff reported.

“Casey White was driving this vehicle. Vicky White was in the passenger seat. During the chase, the truck had an accident. Casey White gave up. Vicky White was taken to the hospital,” he detailed.

He did not specify the type of injuries but, according to US media, he would have shot himself with a firearm.

Vicky White, 56, and Casey White, 38, share a last name but are not related.

The fugitives aroused interest because of the stark contrasts: she a correctional officer with a model career path and he a multi-repeat offender who is over two meters tall.

He is sentenced to 75 years in prison for a long series of crimes and is accused of murder after admitting that he killed a 58-year-old woman in 2015.
