Colombia Elections 2022: Rodolfo Hernández must go to jail for five days, why?

A few days before the 2022 presidential elections, a new scandal tarnishes the campaign of Rodolfo Hernandezthe presidential candidate whose banner has been the fight against corruption.

The court order is given because the engineer has not complied with a guardianship ruling in favor of the former mayor of Floridablanca, Santander, Héctor Mantilla Rueda, in which the presidential candidate is required to retract for accusing Mantilla of corruption.

Hernández has a dispute with Mantilla since 2020when a video circulated on social networks in which the former mayor of Bucaramanga classifies the former president of Floridablanca as corrupt.

Héctor Mantilla considers that Rodolfo Hernández tarnished his good name, so he filed a tutela action that ruled in his favor. However, the engineer has not eliminated the videos in which he talks about Mantilla and, on the contrary, published an image of the politician with Federico Gutiérrez in which he wrote: “Colombia will be fine when it is a country without thugs!” . Faced with the possibility of going to jail, Rodolfo Hernández stressed that it is a new way to stop the growth of his candidacybut he is sure that nothing will affect his path to the presidency.
