He noted that “this involves group violence” plus “of a contagion” that could have spread “to other potential victims.”

bolivia was shocked this week after the revelation of the first two cases, one of which contracted HIV. They were harassed by a gang of four brothers who lived in the same neighborhood, according to authorities.

The crimes occurred in the town of Yapacaniwith some 60,000 inhabitants, in the eastern department of Santa Cruz.

One of the victims is a 10-year-old boy who was hospitalized for injuries sustained, which uncovered a second similar case that occurred a year ago and a third in the process of being clarified.

Both of them kidsnot related to each other, lived in the same neighborhood as their aggressors, four brothers between 28 and 15 years old.

One of these brothers died last year in prison due to a terminal illness”, according to police colonel Carlos Oporto.

The police chief explained in 2021 the first complaint was received “as a result of which the minor suffered a contagion of HIV-AIDS”.

Another of the brothers was arrested Tuesday in Yapacaní, where an angry mob of neighbors tried to lynch him. The police rescued him and on Wednesday he was transferred to a maximum security prison in La Paz.

Defender Cruz also announced that an investigation will be launched of all the people and institutions involved in the case, as it became clear that the cases were not given due importance.
