When Brie Duval moved from her native Australia to Canada to make a new life, he did not imagine that he would have to witness death up close. At 25 years old, this young woman suffered a terrible accident that left her in a coma for more than a month.

His head hit the pavement, he fractured his skull and suffered a severe brain injury, The Mirror reports.

An emergency team rescued her, but she had to be airlifted to the University of Alberta Hospital. She was August 2021 and the doctors who treated her predicted only 10% of her life.

The young woman had been sentenced to death. “My mother was told that she had a 10 percent chance of living and that she should go to Canada as soon as possible because things were not looking good”the young woman told the British media.

As if that were not enough, the accident brie happened in the midst of the pandemic COVID-19, so his family could not travel to Canada, due to the strong restrictions that Australia had, by preventing anyone from entering or leaving the country.

However, her parents asked the doctors not to take their daughter off life support for any reason. “They had to comply medically”he pointed.

Despite staying so far away, her family’s hope to see her recover grew, after the young woman showed stronger vital signs when she was in the hospital bed for a month. She was finally able to wake up.

Despite staying conscious, brie she had to remain hospitalized due to the amnesia she had suffered, until she was able to reassemble her past and her history in her head. It was until then that the doctors decided to give him her cell phone.

“I felt like I was dead. All my muscles were completely lost while she was lying on the bed”he added brie.

After catching up with the notifications on her phone, the young woman learned in the most painful way that the boyfriend she was about to marry after 4 years of relationship, had abandoned her when she was in a coma and was already living with another woman.

In just a month, the boyfriend blocked her from social networks and disappeared from her life.

“They gave me my phone number and the first thing I thought was to call him and see if he knew what happened because he hadn’t come to see me in all those days”said brie a The Mirror.

“I opened my cell phone and found a message from this woman that said: ‘Now I’m with him. He moved here. He now he lives with me and my son, please don’t call him’”.

brie she spent the entire recovery process alone, because her ex-partner never came to visit her. “I haven’t heard from him since I was in the hospital, he completely forgot about me. So I don’t even know why this happened.”.

Five months after having gone through this terrible experience, the young woman was able to travel to her country and continue her recovery with her family.

“Seeing them would have helped me. I struggled a lot, I had a near death experience. She was confused, she was scared and she literally cried every day. It was definitely something I never wanted to experience again.” he pointed.

“It’s been really tough mentally, there’s definitely a little bit of PTSD from everything that’s happened, I’m just trying to sort my emotions out, going through the accident and then having that disappointment in a relationship.”he confessed to the English medium.
