Shooting in the US: a Mexican, among the six killed in Chicago attack

The shooter, who fired from the roof of a building, remains at large. Police describe him as a man between 18 and 20 years old, with black hair. A rifle was recovered at the scene of the incident. Authorities asked people to remain under cover and described the suspect as “armed and dangerous.”

According to witnesses, the suspected shooter was on the roof of a store and began shooting into the crowd following the parade.

“The guy was pointing his gun toward the center of town. I felt like the shooting went on for minutes, it had no end,” Shawn Cotreau told CBS Chicago television.

“We heard what appeared to be fireworks. As he was running, there was a third round of shots,” a witness told ABC News.
