Georgia denies passage through the country of explosives detonated on the Crimean bridge

Georgia denied today that the explosive load detonated on the 8th and that damaged the bridge of crimea has passed through Georgian territory, as reported on Wednesday by the Federal Security Service (FSB, former KGB) of Russia.

“The Georgia border has not been crossed by a wagon or a truck with explosives”Georgian Deputy Finance Minister Gueorgui Kakauridze told Public Television.

He stressed that Russia’s accusations in this regard are not supported in any way.

“Our Western partners, the United States and the European Union, know very well how we control customs,” Kakauridze said.

He added that if anyone presents substantiated arguments that the cargo crossed the Georgia border, an investigation will be opened.

“But I don’t see any reason to go into explanations now. I know that cargo did not cross the Georgia customs border”, stressed the Deputy Minister of Finance.

The FSB today announced the arrest of eight people allegedly involved in the bomb attack on the Crimean bridge.

The explosives were concealed in polyethylene rolls for construction contained in 22 pallets with a total weight of 22,770 kilograms, according to the FSB statement, which added that this cargo was shipped in early August from the Ukrainian port of Odessa to the Bulgarian port of Ruse, on the Danube.

From Ruse, the cargo was sent to the Georgian port of Poti, on the Black Sea, and from there, by land, to Armenia, where it completed the customs procedures of the Eurasian Economic Union, led by Russia.

From Armenia, the shipment of explosives passed through Georgia again and on October 4 entered the territory of Russia through the Verjni Lars mountain pass.
