The European Union estimates raising its military support to Ukraine to “more than 3,000 million”

The European Union (EU) must approve next week an increase in its military support to Ukraine to “more than 3,000 million euros”, announced this Thursday the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, on the sidelines of a NATO ministerial meeting.

“I am here to inform NATO members that we are going to approve, possibly on Monday (…), a new tranche of our support to the Ukrainian armed forces, to more than 3,000 million euros” of European Fund for Peace (FEP), said the Spanish diplomat.

On Monday, the foreign ministers of the countries of the EU They will hold a meeting in Luxembourg, and at that meeting the extension of the military aid package to Ukraine must be approved.

Since the beginning of the Russian offensive in Ukraine, the EU It has already disposed of some 2,500 million euros of the 5,700 million that make up the EFF.

According to Borrell, this new section should be another 500 million euros.

Resources from that fund will also be used to finance an ambitious project to provide training to some 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers in various member states of the bloc.
