Princess Amalia, heiress to the crown dutchis under strict security measures due to fears that she could be attacked by criminals, the Dutch news agency ANP reported on Thursday, citing her parents.
“You can hardly leave the house”, said Queen Máxima during a state visit to Sweden with her husband, King William.

Amelia, 18 years old, started studying at the University of Amsterdam last month and had moved into an apartment in the Dutch capital, but the royal couple now said that concern for her safety forced her to return to the royal palace Huis ten Bosch in The Hague.
Last month, several Dutch media outlets reported that the princess, whose formal title is Princess of Orange, was under strict security measures for fear that criminal gangs might kidnap or attack her.
The Dutch police and the country’s secret service have refused to comment on the Royal House’s security protocols.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said Thursday night that he could not specify details of the threats either.
Princess Amalia started her degree in Politics and Economics last month and lived in a rented apartment she shared with several other students in Amsterdam until her return to the palace was decided.
“This is terrible news, first of all for her,” Rutte told reporters. “Those responsible for her safety are doing everything they can to keep her safe.”
“The consequences are very hard for her”, said Queen Máxima quoted by the ANP. “There is no possibility of a student life for her like other students have,” she said.
