“Mr. Prosecutor I introduce myself and say: That after having given a statement before you in March 2019, I have become aware through journalistic reports, of various issues that were not addressed at that time, and that I believe that the Prosecutor’s Office should know, for which purpose I offer make a new witness statement. the ex-spy pointed out.

Stiusoformer head of operations of the Argentine Intelligence Secretariat, was for years one of the most powerful men in the secret services and his figure became especially relevant after Nisman’s death in January 2015, shortly after Stiuso was removed from his position.

In 2016, the former spy, whose testimony was demanded by the Justice in the case for the death of the prosecutor, returned to the country after months in unknown whereabouts.

That year, he assured in an interview that the prosecutor “The Government of Cristina (Fernández de) Kirchner ordered him to be killed” and that the former president used intelligence services “parallels”.

Stiuso and Nisman they were close collaborators and the prosecutor died four days after denouncing Fernández for the alleged cover-up of the Iranians suspected of the attack on the AMIA Jewish mutual fund, which left 85 dead in Buenos Aires in 1994, in exchange, allegedly, for favoring trade with the Asian country, something that the former president has always denied.

suicide or homicide

The Justice determined in 2018, based on an expert report, that two people beat, drugged and murdered Nisman, but without establishing who, and that this was a “direct consequence” of the complaint he had made.

However, this resolution is questioned by sectors that believe it was a suicide and that accuse the Justice of being politicized, since the Government of Mauricio Macri (2015-2019) defended the theory of homicide.
