Nancy Pelosi’s husband undergoes successful surgery after being attacked in his own home

His doctors expect a full recovery. Hammill pointed out in that note, where he conveyed the family’s gratitude for the signs of solidarity received after the attack.

Paul Pelosi, 82, was attacked when he was in the family home by a man, identified as David Depape42 years old, who burst into the house shouting “Where’s Nancy?” although she was not at that moment in the house.

Depape, who is in police custody, will be charged with attempted murder with a weapon and assault, among other crimes.

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott indicated this Friday at a press conference that the alert call occurred at 02:27 local time in the morning in San Francisco (09:27 GMT).

When police arrived at the home, they found Paul Pelosi and the suspect struggling and holding a hammer at the same time.

The attacker managed to get hold of the hammer and attacked the congresswoman’s husband, prompting the agents to grab him immediately and disarm him to arrest him.

The police chief pointed out that the investigation is still open and that the reason for the raid is unknown at this time.

The event takes place less than two weeks before the legislative elections on November 8.

White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement that President Joe Biden called Nancy Pelosi in the morning to sympathize with what happened and condemn “the violence.”
