“For me, Putin’s speech is nothing more than ‘Orwellian’”, said the community spokesperson for Foreign Affairs Nabila Massrali, during the daily press conference of the European Commission, in which she referred to the fact that in the Russian leader’s statements “wrong is right, right is wrong”, and “the truth is false and false is true.

The spokeswoman spoke in this way when asked about Putin’s speech this Thursday at the Valdái debate club, in which he stated that the world is facing the “most dangerous and unpredictable” decade since World War II.

During his speech, which lasted for more than half an hour and continued with a question session, the Russian leader spared no words in criticizing the West and the unipolar world, which has come to an end, he said.

“He who sows wind, reaps storms”, warned, in comments following repeated nuclear threats in connection with the war in Ukraine.

The spokeswoman reviewed “facts” such as “it is Russia which is waging an unprovoked and illegal war of aggression against Ukraine“, that “It is the Russian armed forces that are behind serious atrocities and war crimes against the civilian population in Ukraine, women and children”, or that it is Moscow that “is blatantly violating international law and breaking the UN Charter.”

“The fact is that it is Russia’s actions that are threatening peace and security, not just in Europe.”he indicated, and stressed that the “Russia’s aggressive actions will have serious consequences in the world, globally.”

Regarding Moscow’s accusations that Ukraine is creating a dirty bomb, said that “The fact is that Russia has a history of making unsubstantiated claims to cover up its own actions.”

As an example, he recalled the “false claims” of Russia earlier this year that kyiv was developing biological weapons, “in an attempt to justify the illegal invasion” it carried out of its neighbor.

“As in the past, Russia is also now unable to substantiate its accusations with any evidence.”he stressed.

Massrali made it clear that “had it not been for Russia, there would not have been this war.”

“And the fact is that Russia could end this war today. If she were to withdraw all her military forces and equipment from the entire territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders”commented.
