Pope asks that “God convert the heart of the violent” after attack in Somalia

The Pope Francisco asked today that “God convert the heart of the violent”after the terrorist attack perpetrated against the Ministry of Education in the capital of Somalia, Mogadishuand in which at least 100 people died.

”Let us pray for the terrorist attack that in Mogadishu has caused the death of more than 100 people, including many children. May God convert the hearts of the violent,” Francis said after praying the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican.

At least 100 people died this Saturday and 300 were injured in an attack with two car bombs perpetrated against the Ministry of Education in Mogadishu, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud confirmed today.

In a message posted on his Twitter social network account before going to the scene of the attack, the Somali head of state blamed the “cruel and cowardly terrorist attack” to the jihadist group Al Shabab, affiliated since 2012 with the terrorist network Al Qaeda.

Francis also asked for prayers today for the more than 150 dead, most of them young, who died in a stampede in South Korea, while celebrating Halloween in the streets of a Seoul neighborhood.
