China’s ambitious space project nearing completion

The launch is a success. China on Monday launched the last module of its space station under construction Tiangong, which should allow it to be fully operational, as part of its ambitious program in space.

China’s desire to build a space station has been fueled in part by the American refusal to accept Chinese in the International Space Station (ISS) program, a collaboration between the United States, Russia, Canada, the Europe and Japan.

“The Mengtian experimental module has entered the predefined orbit with precision,” a mission manager, Deng Hongqin, said on television a few minutes later, describing the launch as “total success”.

Two Chinese astronauts on the Moon by 2030

Mengtian is the third and last major element of the T-shaped Tiangong space station. The station, which will have a lifespan of about ten years, should enable China to maintain a long-term human presence in the ‘space.

Its assembly required a total of eleven missions. This Monday, the last launch made it possible to transport cutting-edge scientific equipment. China plans to send men to the Moon by 2030. In 2019, the country achieved a world first: landing a device on the hidden phase of the Moon.
