french president Emmanuel Macron will hold his first meeting with the newly elected British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak Monday during the climate conference (COP27) in Egyptannounced the Elysée Palace this Sunday.
Macron had a telephone conversation at the end of October with the conservative leader.

According to Downing Streetboth leaders had decided to increase cooperation to fight against the illegal crossing of migrants in the English Channel.
Sunak stressed on that occasion “how important it is for both countries that the Canal route be completely impassable for human traffickers.”
Nearly 40,000 people have already managed to cross the English Channel with small boats since the beginning of the year, far more than the 2021 record.

After a period of tension between London and Paris, the government of Rishi Sunak seems determined to adopt a more conciliatory tone with France.
