United States Elections 2022: Nancy Pelosi is confident of a Democratic victory in the House of Representatives

The Democratic leader in Congress USAPresident Nancy Pelosi expressed hope on Sunday that her party will retain control of the House of Representatives, despite current estimates that give Republican rivals a slim majority.

“We still believe we have a chance to win,” Pelosi told CNN.

Five days after the mid-term elections, there are still no results on about twenty seats in the lower house of Congress.

According to CNN and ABC, the Republicans have to date occupied 211 of the 218 seats needed to have a majority.

“There are still a lot of ballots to count,” Pelosi said, however, comparing the electoral process to the Olympics: “in half a second, you can have gold, silver or bronze.”

The legislator was generally satisfied with the results of the Democratic Party in the November 8 elections, ironizing that the announced Republican “wave” had not occurred.

“Who would have thought two months ago that this red wave would become a very small droplet,” he said, alluding to the color that identifies Republicans.

The Democratic legislator was also pleased with the results obtained in the Senate, after the victory of a Democratic candidate in the state of Nevada was announced on Saturday, which allows the party to maintain control of the upper house.

“It’s a cause for celebration,” Pelosi said with a smile.
