Without launching her candidacy, Cristina Kirchner calls for a governance pact in Argentina before a crowd

The Argentine Vice President Cristina Kirchner This Thursday he asked all political forces to “retake the democratic pact” and build an “economic consensus”, in a great act with leaders and militants of the ruling Frente de Todos, of the center-left Peronism.

That day “the democratic pact to respect life was broken,” said the former president (2007-15). “It is the obligation of all political forces to resume that pact, separating the violent, the language of hate. No political party in Argentina can accept that again. It would be going back to pre-democratic stages,” she added.

Three people were prosecuted and remain in custody for the attempted murder. The vice president requested a few days ago the recusal of the judge in charge, considering that she has failed to investigate the attacker’s political connections.

Before the militants, the vice president criticized the functioning of justice, which she refers to as “the judicial party.” “What is democratic and modern that their positions are eternal? Nothing,” she exclaimed.

The former president, against whom the Prosecutor’s Office has requested 12 years in prison and political disqualification, is facing a trial for alleged corruption that is in its final stage and could issue a verdict before the end of the year.

In his speech, Kirchner also called for the “building of an economic consensus” to address “the serious problems” of the country.

Argentina has one of the highest inflation rates in the world (76.6% until October) and the currency is subject to a strong depreciation.

“The great turning point was to return to a brutal debt, because we have to allocate resources not to create value but to pay debt. That conditions our policies ”, she maintained, alluding to an agreement for 44,000 million dollars with the International Monetary Fund.

In closing, the vice president warned that more difficult times were ahead and insisted that “Argentina needs militants, not from any political party, but from Argentina.”
