VIDEO. Iran: Panic scenes in Tehran metro after regime police intervention

Scenes of panic in the Tehran subway: Unidentified explosions were heard on the subway platform on Wednesday. They caused a crowd movement and a mass crush of users, as evidenced by the videos broadcast by AFP, Reuters and the international press. Other footage, still on the subway, shows Iranian demonstrators being beaten by police.

Earlier, Iranians protested on the waterfront, chanting the slogan “I am a free woman, you are perverts.” Others have tagged the metro with “Death to a dictator,” “#Dishonoring,” or even “#MahsaAmini,” the name of a 22-year-old Iranian girl of Kurdish descent whose death has sparked protests since September.

The protest movement against Ali Khamenei’s regime is now in its second month. At least 15,000 people have been arrested since the protests began and at least 342 demonstrators have been killed, according to the Iranian Human Rights Organization (IHR), an Oslo-based NGO. On Wednesday, three protesters were sentenced to death, bringing the number of death sentences to five since Sunday.
