Borrell urges to “intensify the fight against climate change” after COP27

The high representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrellcalled this Sunday to “intensify the fight against climate changeand achieve a COP28 “successful”.

Through his official Twitter account, the head of European diplomacy pointed out that in the COP27 held for two weeks in Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt) the EU has confirmed “the firm support (…) to the most vulnerable”.

Borrell pointed out in this context that the fund for losses and damages agreed “It is an important step”, but considered that “Global emitters need much more ambitious action to stay on track for the 1.5 degree target.”

He also valued the “great job by the EU negotiating team, helping to get a global deal and always pushing for more compromise.”
