Colombia: a girl who was found clinging to her mother’s body is now with her father in Risaralda

Heartbreaking stories have been known after the tragedy that occurred in the early hours of this Sunday in the rural area of ​​the municipality of Pueblo Rico (Risaralda), Colombia. One of the most moved by the community is the minor who was rescued while she was clinging to the body of her mother, who did not survive the tragedy.

The facts were informed by the Governor of Risaralda, Víctor Manuel Tamayo. “Around 2:00 in the afternoon, three people were able to be rescued, including a girl who was hugging the body of her mother, who unfortunately is not alive. We will continue working to rescue as many people as possible.but the weather and the hours are against it,” he said.

This newspaper learned that the team of rescue canines from the Pereira Fire Department was taken to the scene and did not give a positive response to the search for people alive.

Likewise, El Tiempo spoke with Ximena Carmona, Departmental Coordinator for Disaster Risk Management (in charge), who stated that the minor is being cared for in a care center.

“The minor has a broken leg and was transferred to the San Jorge de Pereira Hospital, where she receives medical attention. Once there, she was able to establish communication with her father, who is already at her place, accompanying her, ”the official reported.

Regarding the mother of the minor, Carmona mentioned that it is estimated that she is the mother, but that it has not been possible to fully identify her, since the body has not been recovered. “There are still many people inside the bus and we do not have identification of all of them. ; However, when the minor was removed, it was found that the woman had no vital signs, ”she added.

For now, not reported as deceased because the body has not been recovered. This is how so far the fatalities are three: a 20-year-old man, a 44-year-old adult and a child under seven years of age.

Meanwhile, the Risaralda Police, which is accompanying the process, reported that until 7:00 p.m. they had managed to clear only the back of the bus. “We are waiting to start recovering the bodies of victims, taking into account that the bus is not insured due to loss of bank and could possibly fall into the void, delaying the recovery of victims,” ​​reported the Institution.

At the moment, the risk management authorities continue with the rescue work, although the passing of the hours reduces the chances of finding more survivors.
