The general secretary of the Organization of American States (OAS)Luis Almagro, rejected this Wednesday the actions taken by the ousted president of Peru, Pedro Castilloand made a call for dialogue in the country.
“What happened today in Peruwhen dissolving Castle Congress without a constitutional basis constitutes an alteration of the constitutional order,” he said. almagro during an extraordinary session of the OAS Permanent Council in Washington.

almagrowho chairs the OAS since 2015, he announced that he will contact the Peruvian vice president, Dina Boluarte, who will be sworn in this afternoon as head of state after the dismissal of Castillo.
The Peruvian leader was arrested this Wednesday after being dismissed by Congress after trying to dissolve the Legislature and call a constituent process to avoid a political trial against him.
The gesture of Castle was rated as coup by members of his own government, including Boluarte, and was rejected by the Armed Forces and the Police.
