The OAS cancels its report on the crisis in Peru after the dismissal of Pedro Castillo

The Organization of American States (OAS) canceled this Thursday the presentation of the report in which he was to give recommendations to overcome the political crisis in Peru, after the impeachment and arrest of former President Pedro Castillo, accused of attempting a coup.

A high-level mission from the organization had visited Peru at the end of November to analyze the Peruvian crisis at the request of the same Castlewho He had denounced that a coup d’état was being prepared against him.

The OAS delegation then called for dialogue in Peru and this Thursday he was to present his preliminary report to the permanent council of the organization, but the meeting was cancelled.

“The extraordinary session of the permanent council scheduled for this Thursday to consider the preliminary report of the High Level Group that visited Peru has been cancelled”announced the OAS in a short statement.

The OAS made this decision after the situation in Peru changed completely the day before with the Castillo’s removal and arrestso that his report became outdated.

Castle announced on Wednesday the dissolution of Congress and the formation of an exceptional government to avoid a political trial against him, but the majority of his Executive and the Armed Forces turned their backs on him, Congress dismissed him and the Prosecutor’s Office arrested him for attempted of coup.

Parliament appointed as its new president Dina Boluarteuntil then vice president of Castle and who opposed his predecessor’s plan.
