AMLO on Pedro Castillo: “The will of the people who elected him must be respected”

The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), referred this Tuesday to the political situation in Peru and that of former President Pedro Castillo. The president commented on the statement signed by his country and the governments of Colombia, Argentina and Bolivia where they expressed “their deep concern over the recent events that resulted in the removal and detention of José Pedro Castillo”, whom they still consider to be the president of Peru and who they see themselves as “victims of undemocratic harassment.”

“We have just released a document prepared by the foreign ministers of Colombia, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia where, in accordance with international agreements, those responsible for the political leadership of Peru are urged to respect the vote of the citizens and that human rights be respected, that it not be repressed”, said AMLO in his program every morning.
