Relations between India and China were severely soured after a June 2020 border clash in the Galwan Valley in the western Himalayas, the worst in 45 years among the nuclear powers, which killed at least 20 Indian soldiers and 76 were injured, while Beijing acknowledged four dead and one seriously injured.
