Government of Russia recommends not traveling to Peru due to violent demonstrations

The Foreign Ministry of Russia recommended today not to travel to Peru due to the violent demonstrations anti-government groups that broke out in the Andean country and have already left seven dead.

”We recommend that Russian citizens refrain from making trips to Peru that are not absolutely necessary”, says the foreign statement.

The note highlights that the protests taking place in the capital and eight regions of the country are accompanied by “clashes with the police” road closures and attacks on civilian infrastructure.

And remember that among the seven dead are two minors, to which must be added dozens of injured and missing.

Protesters have taken over the airfields of Cuzco and Arequipa, Peru’s second largest city, as well as a natural gas compression plant in the south of the country.
