The Mexican Foreign Ministry orders its ambassador to Peru to return to protect his safety

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico instructed his ambassador in Peru, Pablo Monroy Conesa, to return to the country in order to protect his safety and physical integrity, after he was declared persona non grata.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry indicated that the Mexican Embassy in Peru will be in charge of the first secretary Karla Tatiana Ornelas Loera, current head of the Mission’s Foreign Ministry.

In addition, he stated that the Mexican representation will continue to operate normally after this movement.

The Peruvian Foreign Ministry declared Ambassador Pablo Monroy persona non grata for the expressions of the Mexican authorities on the political situation in Peru, for which he was ordered to leave the country within a period of no more than 72 hours.

“Mexico firmly believes in dialogue and will continue to keep communication channels open with all interlocutors, especially to meet the needs of Mexicans residing in Peru,” he said.
