King Carlos III highlights “solidarity” in his first Christmas message as monarch

In his first message from Christmas since he acceded to the throne, the King Charles III praised this Sunday the “solidarity”, in a context of rising prices in the United Kingdom.

Dressed in a blue suit, the 74-year-old sovereign spoke from Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel, where his mother Elizabeth II, who ruled for more than seven decades, and his father Prince Philip are buried.

I have no words to thank you for the love and sympathy you showed our entire family”, he said, underlining how emotional Christmas is for “all those who have lost loved ones”.

Carlos III, who will be crowned on May 6 in London, thanked the work of the military, emergency services and health personnel, a few days after the nurses began an unprecedented strike in the country to obtain better wages.

I especially want to pay tribute to all those wonderfully kind people who so generously“give”meal”, “money” or his “weather”, in these difficult times, he added.

The monarch cited those who are submerged in a war, famine or natural disasters, as well as those who “here they seek means to pay their bills or feed and heat their families”, at a time when inflation is around 11% in the country.
