The president of IranEbrahim Raissi, vowed on Tuesday that he “will show no mercy” to those who show their hostility towards the Islamic republic in the demonstrations sparked by the death of the young Mahsa Amini while in detention.
These parades, generally called “riots” by the authorities, began with the death on September 16 of this 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman, after she was arrested in Tehran on charges of violating the country’s strict dress code for women.

“The hypocrites, the monarchists, the counterrevolutionary currents and all those harmed by the revolution have joined the demonstrations,” Raissi told a crowd in front of the University of Tehran to pay tribute to the remains of 200 soldiers killed during the war Iran-Iraq (1980-1988).
“The arms of the nation are open to all who have been deceived. The young are our children, but we will show no mercy to the hostile elements, ”he insisted.

“If they think to achieve their goals by spreading rumors and dividing society, they are wrong,” Raissi launched in this regard.
“They want to deceive us, but we know them and we also know our nation,” he added.
Iranian officials say hundreds of people have been killed, including dozens of security personnel, while thousands have been arrested in demonstrations in which women and youth play prominent roles.
Human rights defenders outside of Iran they estimate that more than 450 protesters were killed.
The court has so far announced that it has sentenced 11 people to death for their participation in the demonstrations. Two of them have already been executed and two will be tried again.
Militants say a dozen more risk capital punishment.
