The year 2022 is the warmest on record for the UK

This year has been the hottest in the United Kingdom since these records began to be made, in 1884, the British meteorological service (Met) indicated this Wednesday.

The year 2022 “has been the year with the highest average temperature in the entire United Kingdomsurpassing the previous record of 2014, when the average had been 9.88 degrees Celsius, “said that office in a statement.

The paper, which is based on provisional data, indicates that the 2022 average temperature will be accurately reported only when 2022 is over.

The ten warmest years since 1884 in the country were recorded in the last twenty.

“2022 will be the warmest year ever recorded in the United Kingdom. Many will remember an extremely hot summer, but what has been striking this year has been relatively consistent heat throughout the year,” said Mark McCarthy, director of the National Weather Bureau’s Climate Information Center.

Every month this year except December has set record high temperatures, he added.

“The annual heat is in line with expectations for human-induced climate change impacts,” he noted.

“This does not mean that each year will be warmer than the last, but climate change continues to increase the chances of hotter years in the coming decades,” he said.
