Travelers from China must present a negative covid test result to enter the United Kingdom

United Kingdom will require passengers coming from China who present a negative result of a covid-19 test before leaving due to the increase in infections of coronavirus registered in that country, anticipated this Friday the British media.

In the absence of an official announcement by the Government of Rishi Sunak, the BBC assures that the Executive is willing to announce the introduction of this requirement after Beijing confirmed that it will reopen its borders on January 8, for the first time since March of 2020.

The United Kingdom would thus join other countries such as the United States, Italy, India, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia and Japan, which have also ordered new measures after China registered an exponential increase in cases as a result of the relaxation of its anti-covid strategy.

UK Defense Minister Ben Wallance confirmed that the government is reviewing whether to introduce coronavirus restrictions on travelers from China.

The British Government’s measure would be preventive and temporary, due to the lack of confidence in the vaccine system and data provided by the Chinese authorities, according to the Sky television channel.

Some Conservative deputies have recently asked the Executive to react more forcefully to the increase in cases in the Asian country, despite the fact that the president of the so-called Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization of the United Kingdom, Andrew Pollard, opined that it is unlikely that the imposition of travel restrictions may stop the entry of covid variants into the UK.
